Defense and military leaders from over 100 countries, along with representatives from international and regional organizations, have confirmed their attendance at the upcoming 12th Beijing Xiangshan Forum, a spokesperson for China's Ministry of National Defense said on Wednesday.
Noting that preparations for the forum, scheduled for September 17 to 19, have been largely finalized, Jiang Bin told a press briefing that the participating countries included Vietnam, Singapore, Russia, France, Nigeria, and Brazil.
The forum will feature broader representation with delegates from more countries, further demonstrating its commitment to inclusiveness and openness, he said.
Jiang noted that this year's forum will feature four plenary sessions and eight concurrent sessions, focusing on global security governance, Asia-Pacific security cooperation, safeguarding international order, and promoting regional peace.
Additionally, to mark the 80th anniversary of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, as well as the 80th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations, special academic events on "Contemporary Significance of the Victory in the World Anti-Fascist War," "80th Anniversary of UN: Advancing Amid Global Transformations," and "Wartime Memories and Contemporary Peace" will be held, said the spokesperson.
These activities aim to encourage countries to work together in safeguarding the victorious outcomes of the World Anti-Fascist War and the post-war international order. They seek practical ways to resolve conflicts, add more stability and positive energy to the turbulent and changing world, and strive for a brighter future for humanity, he said.
