For the first time in nearly three years, people across China looked up in awe as the moon turned a rare crimson red early Monday morning. The total lunar eclipse, which lasted more than an hour, occurred when the sun, Earth, and moon were aligned, plunging the moon fully into the umbra. With the right weather conditions, the "red moon" could be observed with the naked eye.
