As agreed by China and the United States, Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng will go to Spain to engage in talks with the U.S. side, a spokesperson for China's Ministry of Commerce said on Friday.
He, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, will lead a delegation to Spain from September 14 to 17, the spokesperson added.
The two parties will discuss economic and trade issues like the U.S. unilateral tariff measures, the abuse of export controls and TikTok, according to the spokesperson.
China's position on the TikTok issue is clear and consistent, the spokesperson said while detailing the upcoming talks.
China is firmly determined to safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of its enterprises and will review the TikTok issue in accordance with laws and regulations, said the spokesperson.
The Chinese government attaches great importance to data privacy and security, the spokesperson said, adding that the country has never and will never require any enterprise or individual to collect or provide data located in foreign countries for the Chinese government in violation of local laws.
The spokesperson said China urges the U.S. to meet China halfway to resolve their respective concerns through dialogue on the basis of mutual respect and equal consultation and provide an open, fair, just and non-discriminatory business environment for Chinese enterprises, including TikTok, to continue operating in the U.S. to promote the stable, healthy and sustainable development of the two countries' economic and trade relations.
