German producer Patrick Hörl is the jury president of the documentary category at the second Golden Panda Awards, held in Chengdu, southwest China's Sichuan Province.

He has co-produced documentaries with China for 15 years and expressed his happiness at joining this specific tour. He also noted that their co-productions have been well-received in Germany.

In an interview with CGTN, he emphasized the importance of international co-productions, as many countries lack the funding for large-scale documentaries. Hörl praised the Golden Panda Awards for promoting diverse filmmaking globally and fostering connections between producers.

He pointed out that the uniqueness of the awards lies in its broad scope, covering films intended for a wider audience rather than just niche ones aimed at film enthusiasts, which sets it apart from other Chinese documentary awards.
