British TV, film executive: Using food as a lens to illuminate cross-cultural resonance

01:18

The 2025 Golden Panda International Culture Forum opened on Saturday in Chengdu, southwest China's Sichuan Province. Themed "Harmony in Diversity, A Future in Unity," the forum brings together guests from China and abroad to exchange ideas and share perspectives.

British television and film executive Chantal Rickards uses food and imagery as a medium to share her experiences and insights on promoting cross-cultural communication. Rickards was once channel director of the Food Network and contributed to the globally renowned show "Masterchef." She points out that using food as a lens can reveal a country's historical changes, geographical features, economic development and deeper cultural customs. She believes that it is precisely this shared passion for food that enables people from different cultural backgrounds to enhance mutual understanding.
