In 1920, pioneering Chinese composer Liao Shangguo composed "The River Runs East" in Berlin, setting an 11th-century poem by Su Shi to music. Now known as China's first art song, it symbolizes East meeting West. This morning, baritone Liao Changyong sang it once again at the 2025 Golden Panda International Cultural Forum, his rich voice carrying history across time and touching every listener.
