In the women's singles quarterfinals at the WTT Champions Macao, China's World No. 1 Sun Yingsha defeated Puerto Rico's Adriana Diaz 4-1 to set up a semifinal showdown with compatriot Kuai Man.

The 24-year-old defending champion jumped out to a 10-7 lead with a blistering backhand in the first game. Diaz fought back, narrowing the gap to 10-9 after Sun hit long, and ultimately took the opener 12-10.

Two-time Olympic silver medalist Sun surged into a 4-3 lead in the second game with a powerful forehand, and built a 6-4 advantage when Diaz hit the net. Sun went on to claim four consecutive frames 11-7, 11-9, 11-9, 11-7, clinching the match 4-1 to advance to the last four.

World No. 2 Wang Manyu swept past the Macao SAR's Zhu Yuling 4-0. Wang led 7-4 in their opener, en route to prevailing 11-7. Zhu brought up game point after grabbing a 10-8 edge in the second, but Wang rallied to pick up four straight points, taking it 12-10.

The 26-year-old then clinched the third frame 12-10 after a 4-0 start, and dominated the fourth 11-3 to set up a semifinal match against compatriot Chen Xingtong.

In the men's singles quarterfinals, China's Wang Chuqin eased past Lin Yun-Ju 4-0 to reach the semifinals. Wang handily claimed the first game 11-6, before overcoming multiple challenges posed by his opponent from Chinese Taipei to take the second 11-9.

The contest remained closely-fought with Wang prevailing 14-12 in the third frame, and then sealing his victory 12-10 in the fourth. The World No. 2 will face South Korea's Jang Woo-jin, who defeated Germany's Benedikt Duda in a six-game thriller.

Meanwhile, defending champion Lin Shidong lost to Denmark's Anders Lind 4-3 in a grueling seven-game encounter.

Lin leveled the match at 3-3, but Lind proved stronger on the day in the end, closing out the decider 11-7. The Dane will meet Brazil's Hugo Calderano in the semifinals.
