The Chinese women's hockey team captured the Women's Asia Cup 2025 title on Sunday at the Hangzhou Hockey Stadium, defeating India 4-1 to claim their third championship and first since 2009. The victory also secures China's qualification for the upcoming Hockey World Cup.
India opened the scoring within the first minute through Navneet Kaur, who capitalized on a series of penalty corners. China responded with consistent pressure and earned a penalty corner, which was converted by captain Ou Zixia in the 21st minute to level the score.
The hosts took control in the second half as Li Hong put China ahead in the 41st minute with a composed finish past goalkeeper Bichu Devi. Zhang Ying then assisted Zou Meirong to extend the lead to 3-1 just ten minutes later.
Zhong Jiaqi sealed the victory with a fourth goal, cementing a memorable win reminiscent of China's 2009 triumph over India in the final.
In the bronze medal match, Japan delivered a disciplined performance to defeat South Korea and secure their place on the podium.
