The Chinese and U.S. delegations reconvened on Monday for the second day of talks on economic and trade issues. U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent answered questions from a CGTN reporter before the meeting.
When asked whether the U.S. will extend the deadline for TikTok to divest its U.S. operations, Bessent said, "we will see."
U.S. President Donald Trump signed an executive order on June 19 to keep TikTok operating in the U.S. for another 90 days, giving his administration more time to negotiate a deal under the "sell-or-ban" law. The executive order extended the deadline to September 17, 2025.
