China urges the United States and Japan to withdraw the Typhon missile system as soon as possible, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian said at a press conference in Beijing on Tuesday. Lin made the remarks when he was asked to comment on the Typhon medium-range missile system that has been deployed in Japan by the United States as part of a joint exercise between the two countries. China has in the past objected to the presence of this system in the region, saying it fuels an arms race.
