The 27th Chinese Peacekeeping Contingent to the United Nations Organization Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) was awarded the UN Peace Medal in 2024.

Over the past 35 years, Chinese peacekeepers have consistently demonstrated dedication and professionalism in their missions, contributing to the maintenance of peace and fostering friendships.

Not only in the DRC, but also in many other conflict zones where wars are common, Chinese peacekeepers, wearing the distinctive blue beret of UN peacekeeping forces, keep the peace and promote development in local areas with a strong sense of responsibility, earning widespread praise.

Currently, more than 1,800 Chinese military personnel are conducting missions across seven UN peacekeeping areas and at UN headquarters. Since 1990, the Chinese military has deployed over 50,000 peacekeepers.
