In an exclusive CGTN interview, Su Da, Art Director of Shanghai Animation Film Studio and Golden Panda Awards judge, reveals the secret behind Chinese animation's international success.

So why do films like "Ne Zha 2" strike a chord with audiences worldwide? It's about culture, Su says, explaining that universal themes of the human condition are rendered masterfully through distinctively Chinese aesthetics and storytelling.

"When creating we need to think how to preserve cultural confidence," Su advises younger animators. She also urges Chinese creators to engage more with their fellows overseas in order to develop their understanding of global markets.

Generations of Chinese audiences have grown up on Shanghai Animation Film Studio's works. Today, Chinese animation has grown more diverse and mature, steadily facing outward into the wider world. The aim – and the bet – for Chinese creators now is to make animation films that become cherished memories for new generations around the world.
