Editor's Note: Every September marks World Alzheimer's Month, an international campaign to raise awareness and increase public understanding of Alzheimer's disease and all forms of dementia.

Alzheimer's disease is a brain disorder that affects memory and cognitive abilities. As AI tools become increasingly prevalent in daily life, people enjoy the benefits of AI assistance while also raising online concerns: could overreliance on these tools increase the risk of Alzheimer's disease or other forms of dementia due to reduced cognitive engagement?

Professor Guo Yi, principal investigator at Shenzhen Bay Laboratory and principal expert for the Brain Health Program at United Family Hospital, emphasizes that while using AI tools, individuals often reflect on why the answers provided are better and consider how to improve themselves. There is no direct link between the use of AI tools and the onset of dementia.
