Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun said on Monday that the leaders of China and the United States are maintaining close communication and exchanges when asked about the possibility of a meeting during the upcoming Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) leaders' meeting.
Guo emphasized that head-of-state diplomacy plays an irreplaceable role in providing strategic guidance for China-U.S. relations, adding that the two leaders remain in close contact.
On TikTok-related issues, Guo reiterated that China's position is clear. He said the Chinese government respects the will of corporations and supports companies in conducting business negotiations based on market rules, aiming for solutions that comply with Chinese laws and regulations while balancing the interests of all parties.
"We hope the U.S. will provide an open, fair, and non-discriminatory business environment for Chinese enterprises investing in the United States," Guo added.
