Chinese President Xi Jinping, also general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, will attend a grand gathering 10:30 a.m. on Thursday in Urumqi in honor of the 70th anniversary of the founding of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.

The event will be broadcast live by China Media Group and on Xinhuanet.
