AI can generate an image, but can it direct a movie? In an interview with CGTN's Zhang Meng, Oscar-winning VFX master Anthony LaMolinara – who is on the animation jury at the 12th Silk Road International Film Festival – shared his expert take on AI in filmmaking.
He called AI the "new frontier" but highlighted a crucial challenge: control. While it's exciting to create images, true filmmaking requires precise direction over movement, camera angles and emotion – something that is difficult with AI currently. LaMolinara and his team are even exploring a new "language" beyond text prompts to better guide AI creatively.
