Super Typhoon Ragasa has caused significant casualties and damage in China's Taiwan region. As of Wednesday, the region's disaster response center reported at least 14 fatalities, 18 injuries and several people still missing. The storm triggered heavy rains, leading to a devastating breach of the Mataian Creek barrier lake in Hualien. The resulting floodwaters destroyed a bridge and inundated Guangfu Township, prompting the forced evacuation of approximately 1,800 households in the affected areas.
