China has played an active role in global health governance, with decades of medical assistance to developing countries.
In 2024 alone, Chinese medical teams were dispatched to 59 countries and regions, sending more than 1,000 personnel who treated over 2 million patients.
Since China's naval hospital ship "Peace Ark" embarked on its inaugural Harmony Mission in 2010, it has toured 49 countries and regions, providing health services to more than 370,000 people by the end of 2024.
Over the past six decades, China has dispatched more than 30,000 medical personnel to 77 countries and regions, providing treatment to over 300 million patients, according to a statement delivered by Lei Haichao, head of China's National Health Commission, during the general debate at the 78th World Health Assembly in May, highlighting China's active engagement in global health cooperation.
He added that during the COVID-19 pandemic, China supplied 500 billion personal protective items and 2.3 billion doses of vaccines globally.
