And it's not just big factories that are busy. Many smaller local bakeries specializing in handmade mooncakes in Jiangkou are also having a busy production season.

One local company has introduced six new mooncake flavors, including a matcha Gastrodia elata ham mooncake and a cherry snow drunken rosy cranberry cake. Gastrodia elata, a root used in traditional Chinese cuisine, is known for its unique flavor. The company has also updated the packaging of its mooncake gift boxes to suit different consumer needs. Currently, total orders for these mooncakes amount to around 4 million units, valued at $700,000. These products are mainly sold in major cities like Hong Kong, Beijing, Shanghai, and Guiyang.
