Chinese President Xi Jinping, also general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, led a central delegation as he arrived in Urumqi, capital of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, on Tuesday to attend events marking the region's 70th founding anniversary. During his visit, Xi met with officials and representatives of various ethnic groups, visited a themed exhibition, listened to regional government work reports, watched the gala "Beautiful Xinjiang" and attended a grand gathering.
