Home pair Zou Jiaqi and Fu Ling won the gold medal in the lightweight women's double sculls at the World Rowing Championships in east China's Shanghai Municipality, marking the team's first title at this event.

Zou and Fu ranked first in the preliminaries with a large advantage, and in the final, they took the lead in the first 500 meters before enlarging it to finally cross line first in a time of 7:26.12, 14.78 seconds ahead of second-placed Tunisia.

In the following lightweight men's double sculls, the hosts dispatched Sun Man and Li Yawei for the competition. Sun has attended the world championships many times while Li was taking part for his first time. The duo crossed the line first in a time of 6:44.90 to win gold.
