China Media Group (CMG) and Teledifusao de Macau (TDM) exchanged a licensing agreement in Macao SAR on Sunday, granting TDM the media rights for the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics.
Under the agreement, CMG will provide its programming for the 2026 Winter Games to TDM free of charge. This will allow residents of Macao to watch live broadcasts and related coverage on TDM's platforms, including its television channels (Macao Sport, Macao Info, etc.), official website and mobile app. The deal marks the latest collaboration between the two broadcasters to bring major sporting events to the Macao audience, following similar agreements for the Tokyo Olympics, Beijing Winter Olympics, Hangzhou Asian Games and Paris Olympics.
The Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics will take place in Italy from February 6 to 22, 2026. As a rights-holding broadcaster for the Games, CMG is the world's only media organization involved in the production of the 8K signal. The group will integrate cutting-edge technologies like AI and 8K ultra-high-definition broadcasting into its signal production and coverage. Additionally, CMG will, for the first time, be responsible for producing the international public signal for the short-track speed skating and figure skating events.
