Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Choe Son Hui, foreign minister of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), on September 28 in Beijing. This marks Choe's first visit to China in her capacity as DPRK foreign minister and the second meeting between the two within a month.
Wang highlighted that the historic meeting between the leaders of the two countries earlier this month laid out a blueprint for bilateral relations. He emphasized that the traditional friendship between China and the DPRK is a precious asset shared by both nations and reaffirmed that maintaining, consolidating, and developing these ties remains China's unwavering strategic policy.
Choe stated that, as DPRK leader Kim Jong Un has emphasized, the friendly sentiments between the two countries will remain unchanged regardless of shifts in the international situation. She stressed the importance of strengthening cooperation to counter unilateralism and hegemony, as well as in establishing a multi-polar world order based on justice and fairness.
