While exploring Russia's Kolyuchin Island in the Far East, a travel blogger captured a surprising scene by drone: a group of polar bears making themselves at home in an abandoned research station.
These curious bears, some even trying to interact with the drone, were found lounging in the deserted buildings, turning the once-human space into shelter.
This scene isn't the first of its kind. Similar moments have been captured before, including in 2021, when polar bears were spotted wandering into abandoned sites.
The blogger's unexpected encounter is also a warning of the serious situation facing these species.
As rising temperatures melt their icy habitats, polar bears are forced to move inland in search of food, but land doesn't offer enough resources they need to survive, threatening their long-term survival.
