Starting October 1, China will implement revised regulations on the entry and exit of foreigners. At the center of these changes is the new K visa, created specifically for young tech talents. The policy has drawn wide global attention, reflecting China's more open and inclusive approach to attract international scientists and innovators. In this edition of The Hub, Wang Guan speaks with John Gong, professor of Economics at the University of International Business and Economics, William Lee, chief economist at the Milken Institute, and Zhang Mengmeng, researcher at the University of Sydney. Together they explore the defining features of the K visa, its potential to address China's talent shortages, and the opportunities it opens for industries such as AI, EVs, and semiconductors, all within the wider global race for talent.
