At least 41 people were killed and over 100 others injured in a stampede during a political rally in Karur, Tamil Nadu, India, on September 27. Film actor Vijay organized the rally to support his political party Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam.
CGTN stringer spoke with witnesses of the stampede. Karur resident Naveen Kumar recalled that the rally was so crowded that people couldn't stand when the stampede happened.
