Yuzui, or Fish Mouth, located in Dujiangyan City of southwest China's Sichuan Province, is one of the three main components of the Dujiangyan Irrigation System. Stretching more than 500 meters across the Minjiang River, its tip resembles a fish’s mouth, giving it its name. As the crucial structure that divides the Inner and Outer Rivers, Yuzui has played a vital role in flood control and irrigation for over 2,000 years. Carefully maintained through history and reinforced with cobblestone, concrete and steel in modern times, it continues to embody the enduring wisdom of ancient engineering while safeguarding the prosperity of the Chengdu Plain.
