During China's War of Liberation, the civilians of the Yimeng Mountain region formed a massive "Support the Front" effort. Over 1.2 million among its 4.2 million population voluntarily provided critical logistics to the People's Liberation Army by transporting supplies, building roads and caring for the wounded – 95-year-old Wang Kechang was one of them. Their immense contribution was considered a decisive factor in key victories like the Huaihai Campaign.
