Among the 193 United Nations member states, more than 150 have already recognized the State of Palestine. Yet the United States remains the only permanent member of the UN Security Council that has not done so.
CGTN Stringer hit the street in New York to hear what Americans think about this issue. Many expressed criticism of their government's inaction on Palestine, noting that while most of the world has recognized Palestinian statehood, the U.S. continues to block this process. An anti-Zionist Jewish American stated that human rights should transcend politics. Other interviewees urged the international community not to wait for the U.S., but instead take independent action to protect Palestinians' right to exist.
