Editor's Note: This year marks the 65th anniversary of diplomatic ties between China and Cuba. Cuba was the first Latin American country to establish diplomatic relations with the People's Republic of China, and the first to partner with China in building a community with a shared future for humanity. In this edition of Leaders Talk, CMG's He Yanke sits down with Miguel Díaz-Canel, Cuban president and first secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba central committee during his visit to China for the SCO Tianjin Summit, and the 80th Anniversary of the Victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War in Beijing. President Díaz-Canel praises China's commitment to preserving history, voices strong support for Chinese President Xi Jinping's Global Governance Initiative (GGI), and highlights the deep friendship and growing cooperation between China and Cuba. He emphasizes that their bilateral relationship has always been a priority and built on mutual respect. He also reflects on the historical contributions of the Chinese community in Cuba, and questions why the U.S. continues to maintain its embargo.
