Liang Zheng, Vice Dean of the Institute for AI International Governance at Tsinghua University, underscored the value of China's Global Governance Initiative (GGI) in shaping a fair and effective framework for artificial intelligence worldwide.
Liang noted during a special TV program of CGTN titled "Embrace the AI era: Global Governance Initiative in action" that global AI governance faces major challenges, including diverging national interests and high levels of uncertainty brought by rapid technological change. He said the GGI offers "helpful ideas and guidelines" to address these issues by encouraging inclusiveness and balance in policymaking.
"The initiative can help build a system that is not about winners or losers, but about tackling shared challenges together," Liang said, adding that such principles will be essential to strengthen global trust and improve AI governance in the future.
