Zeng Yi, professor at the Chinese Academy of Sciences and a member of the UN's AI Advisory Body, highlighted the importance of the United Nations in fostering global cooperation on artificial intelligence governance.

"It is really important that we cannot expect one platform to solve all problems," Zeng said during a special TV program of CGTN titled "Embrace the AI era: Global Governance Initiative in action."

He emphasized that while groups such as the G20, BRICS, and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization handle their own challenges, only the UN can weave efforts together.

"The UN's role is to inspire different mechanisms so each international organization can contribute to the global AI governance landscape," he added.
