On March 5, Zhao Chunling walked past display models of the C919 and C929 at COMAC's Shanghai Design Institute. As the chief designer of China's C929 wide-body aircraft, she is the first woman to lead a major national aircraft program in China's aviation industry. Since 1991, Zhao has worked across systems, design and test flights, contributing to the C909 and C919 programs, which is now in commercial operation. In 2023, she was appointed to head the C929 project. "Roles change, challenges change. But my dream of the skies – and the courage to pursue it – never has."
