#HerVoice in Bloom｜Yang Shuting and her blossoming dream on a wheelchair

In 2011, Yang Shuting was a young nurse when a traffic accident left her paralyzed from the chest down. She turned 20 on the operating table.

Four years later, she started a small artificial flower workshop with her family. Her first sale? 7.7 yuan. The number seven is pronounced qī in the Chinese mandarin, so she named her company Qiqi Tech to remember it.

By 2017, her products were sold overseas, reaching 42 million yuan in exports that year. In 2020, she shifted from exports to domestic sales, setting up over 30 satellite assembly points across rural Hunan. Today, her business supports more than 400 locals — many of them women — earning steady monthly incomes.
