Song Tao, head of both the Taiwan Work Office of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, attended a tea party for people from all walks of life on both sides of the Taiwan Strait to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival, which falls on October 6 this year.

He said that people on both sides are Chinese and should safeguard their common family and oppose the secessionists and foreign interference. He called on them to have more communication and exchanges and actively promote the peaceful development and national reunification.

Sean Lien, vice chairman of the Chinese Kuomintang party, said that the party will continue to uphold the "1992 Consensus," which embodies the one-China principle. The Taiwan compatriots participating in the event expressed willingness to contribute to the peaceful development of ties between both sides and the national reunification and rejuvenation.
