Sun Yingsha and Wang Chuqin claimed the mixed doubles title at the WTT China Smash in Beijing on Friday, brushing aside home compatriots Huang Youzheng and Chen Yi in straight games.

The sixth‑seeded pair turned back a late surge from the wildcard finalists, prevailing 11‑8, 11‑9, 11‑9 to notch their fifth mixed doubles triumph at the Grand Smash level.

In men's singles action, home hope Chen Junsong's fairytale run was halted by France's Felix Lebrun, who won 11‑6, 12‑10, 7‑11, 9‑11, 11‑5, 12‑10. The seventh-seeded European will now face Lin Shidong in the semifinals, after the second seed dispatched Japan's Yukiya Uda in straight games 11‑8, 11‑7, 11‑6, 11‑5.

The women's draw delivered a gripping thriller, as top seed and defending champion Sun Yingsha survived a see-saw showdown with World No. 5 Wang Yidi, battling back from 3-2 down to come out on top 4‑3 in a seven‑game classic (14‑12, 4‑11, 11‑6, 7‑11, 12‑14, 11‑3, 11‑8).

Sun will continue her title defense against another compatriot, third-seeded Chen Xingtong, who beat the Macao SAR's Zhu Yuling 4‑2. The other last-four contest pits South Korea's 16th-seeded Shin Yu‑bin against China's second‑ranked Wang Manyu.
