A total of 350 trekkers stranded by a blizzard near Mount Qomolangma have been safely sheltered in Qudang Township, China's Xizang Autonomous Region, local authorities said on Monday.
According to on-site reports, the trekkers, now accommodated in local hotels, are safe and have sufficient supplies provided by local authorities, including food, heating materials and medical support. Emergency teams were swiftly dispatched to the affected area to escort travelers and deliver essential support.
Contact has also been established with more than 200 others who were being guided to safety.
Hundreds of trekkers were stranded on Sunday when a sudden blizzard descended on campsites on the Chinese side of the mountain.
