During a bilateral meeting at the White House on Tuesday, U.S. President Donald Trump joked with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, suggesting Canada could become the "51st U.S. state.' 

Trump joked about "the merger of Canada and the United States," to which Carney responded, "That wasn't where I was going," drawing laughter from attendees.
