"The Volunteers: Peace at Last," which has dominated the daily box-office charts since its opening day on September 30, has so far earned 485 million yuan ($68 million) at the box office.

According to the results of a moviegoers' satisfaction survey for the 2025 National Day holiday period, the war-themed film "The Volunteers: Peace at Last" topped the list with a score of 87.2.

With the success of the grand finale of The Volunteers trilogy, the total box-office revenue for the series has soared to over 2.5 billion yuan.

Meanwhile, "The Volunteers: Peace at Last," which resonates with themes of patriotism and national pride, has drawn a wave of audiences to its filming location in Jiangxi. During the National Day holiday period, the average daily visitor count at the Shangrao film set in Jiangxi reportedly increased by more than 50 percent.

Many industry analysts cite that the "film + cultural tourism" model has emerged as one of the key drivers for holiday consumption growth.

The satisfaction score for the 2025 National Day Holiday period reached 85.4 points, up by 2.1 points year-on-year, marking the highest score within the past four years. The movies released during this holiday period featured a rich variety of genres and themes, meeting the diverse viewing demands of audiences.

Leveraging the popularity of Chinese cinema, numerous non-traditional tourist hotspots have seen a significant influx of visitors.

For example, the film "Row to Win," which banked a reported 241 million yuan at the box office, has propelled filming locations in Quanzhou City and Jinjiang Village in Fujian Province into the limelight – and to the forefront of tourists' preferred destinations.

Similarly, "A Writer's Odyssey II," which earned 297 million yuan at the box office, has reignited interest in tourism to Chongqing – a renowned hub for film creation – with its imaginative and fantastical worldview.

According to data released by the country's film administration, the 2025 National Day holiday film season has achieved remarkable success, with total box-office revenues soaring to 1.835 billion yuan and attracting 50.07 million moviegoers nationwide.

Moreover, the "China Travel with Chinese Films" initiative, launched jointly by the administration and China Media Group, is actively incorporating film locations into national tourism itineraries.  As China's film industry continues to evolve and innovate, the "film + cultural tourism" model is widely considered to play an increasingly pivotal role in driving economic growth and cultural exchange.
