Emergency personnel in Gaza City sounded sirens and cheered on October 9 after a ceasefire and hostage deal was announced to end the war in Gaza.
Both Israelis and Palestinians welcomed the deal, which is expected to be signed in Egypt's Sharm el-Sheikh. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office said the ceasefire would take effect once approved by the government later in the day.
