October 10 is World Mental Health Day, an annual event aimed at raising awareness of mental health issues and mobilizing efforts in support of mental well-being. According to the World Health Organization's 2025 data update, "World Mental Health Today: Latest Data," over 1 billion people worldwide live with a mental disorder, and an estimated 332 million people – about 4 percent of the global population – were living with depressive disorders in 2021.
CGTN's Health Talk interviewed acclaimed Chinese pianist Kong Xiangdong about his eight-year struggle with depression, as well as two renowned psychologists from China: Zhao Min, president of Shanghai Mental Health Center, and Wang Gang, president of Beijing Anding Hospital, Capital Medical University. These compelling stories and insights on mental disorders will be featured in CGTN's 30-minute documentary, coming soon this October. Stay tuned!
