Taiwan leader Lai Ching-te once again promoted "Taiwan independence" rhetoric in his speech on Friday. Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun strongly condemned the remarks, saying they distort historical facts and challenge international consensus.
The spokesperson added that the greatest threat to peace and stability across the Taiwan Straits comes from "Taiwan independence" separatist activities and external interference. He warned that attempts by the Lai authorities to spread false narratives will only put Taiwan at risk of danger and conflict.
