China is willing to work with Switzerland to carry forward the useful experience, uphold dialogue, enhance mutual trust and deepen cooperation, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said on Friday.

Wang, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, made the remarks at the fourth round of China-Switzerland Foreign Ministers' Strategic Dialogue in the southern Swiss town of Bellinzona.

Wang noted that this year marks the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, and they have maintained high-level exchanges and continuously deepened mutually beneficial cooperation.

China values the extraordinary path the bilateral relationship has taken over the past 75 years and is willing to work with Switzerland to set an example of peaceful coexistence and win-win cooperation between countries with different national conditions and social systems, he said.

Wang expressed the belief that Switzerland will continue to adhere to the one-China principle and safeguard the political foundation of bilateral relations.

He noted that 80 years ago, countries around the world founded the United Nations with the ideal of never again going to war. Today, humanity once again stands at a crossroads, facing choices between peace and war, dialogue and confrontation, win-win cooperation and zero-sum rivalry. Switzerland hosts many UN agencies, and both countries are partners in practicing multilateralism.

Amid the complex and volatile international landscape, China is ready to strengthen strategic communication with Switzerland, firmly uphold the UN-centered international system, promote a fairer and more reasonable global governance system, and jointly promote world peace and development, Wang added.

For his part, Swiss Federal Councillor and Foreign Minister Ignazio Cassis said Switzerland highly appreciates China's green development strategy and opening-up policy, and will continue to firmly adhere to the one-China policy.

He noted that as the global balance of power undergoes profound changes, Switzerland values China's important and positive role, welcomes the Global Governance Initiative proposed by China, and will continue to support the International Organization for Mediation established by China.

Switzerland will also enhance multilateral cooperation with China to jointly meet global challenges, Cassis added.
