"I'm 70 years old and have never felt this happiness before. I truly hope the war never returns," said displaced Palestinian Sameer al-Bass, speaking to CGTN on his way home. Thousands of displaced Palestinians streamed back toward their abandoned homes on Friday after a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas went into effect, and Israeli troops began pulling back from parts of Gaza. Along the coastal Rashid Street, crowds of displaced people moved north, carrying their belongings, memories, and hopes for a new beginning.
