After two years of fighting in Gaza, a ceasefire deal between Israel and Hamas was announced on October 9, with the first phase of the plan signed off by both sides.
CGTN Stringer in Gaza spoke to residents who shared their experiences of the conflict and hopes for the future. Grandmother Salaam Shbeir said the family has had no access to water and had to rely on charity kitchens to survive. She now hopes her son can go back to work and they can all get back to living a normal life. She also hopes the ceasefire will last.
