Spanish Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Albares Bueno will pay an official visit to China on Tuesday and Wednesday, the Chinese Foreign Ministry announced on Monday.

Spain is China's important strategic partner in Europe, spokesperson Lin Jian said at a regular press briefing. In recent years, the two countries have maintained close high-level interactions, consolidated political mutual trust, and had fruitful results-oriented cooperation, said Lin.

This has given a boost to economic growth and people's livelihood in the two countries, he said.

Noting that this year marks the 20th anniversary of the China-Spain comprehensive strategic partnership, Lin said during Albares's visit, the two sides will have an in-depth exchange of views on bilateral relations and international and regional issues of mutual interest.

"We believe this visit will play an important role in deepening mutual understanding and trust between the two countries and elevating the comprehensive strategic partnership," he said.
