In April, Section B of the second stretch of the comprehensive renovation project for Mexico City's Metro Line 1 was put into operation. As the oldest and busiest line in the city's metro system, the reopening of four stations will offer more convenient travel services for local residents.
Launched in 2022, the project is being carried out by a consortium of companies led by Chinese train maker CRRC Zhuzhou Locomotive. It covers new train production and the comprehensive modernization and upgrading of existing operation systems, with a service period of up to 19 years.
So far, 19 out of the 20 stations on Line 1 have been delivered, with 17 already in operation. The project has significantly eased traffic pressure in Mexico City and plays a key role in improving the city's overall transport network.
