In late August, young minds from China and Chile met in Santiago for the China–Latin America 2025 Youth Challenge to Alleviate Poverty (Chile), sharing interdisciplinary and cross-cultural ideas for sustainable development.

The six finalist teams proposed diverse solutions – from turning tailings into eco-friendly building materials to bringing education to rural areas, designing foldable housing for post-disaster reconstruction, and ensuring water security in remote regions. A joint team from Tsinghua University and the University of Chile took the top prize with a solar-powered system that supports rural water collection and purification.

This year's event gathered over 310 students and faculty from 27 universities and enterprises across China, Chile, Brazil and Peru, inspiring youth-led collaboration and innovation in poverty reduction.

The young generation is a driving force for global development. Through CGTN's "Act to Action" campaign, we invite young people from all APEC economies to share their stories and ideas on global governance. Let's showcase the power of youth to shape a better world!
