A first-phase ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas has come into effect. Hamas said in a statement that the agreement will ensure Israeli forces withdraw to the mutually agreed-upon lines, allow aid to enter Gaza, and enable the exchange of prisoners. In an exclusive interview with CGTN Arabic in Türkiye, Tayseer Suleiman, a Hamas official, expressed a positive view of the agreement, calling it an important step toward alleviating the suffering of residents in the Gaza Strip. And when it comes to the Palestinian sovereignty, he emphasized that only Palestinian people have the right to decide their future.
