Zhejiang's Han Jiayu won the women's 10-meter air rifle gold medal thanks to a thrilling comeback in the final at the 15th National Games of China in Guangdong Province. She edged Jiangsu's Yan Jinjing with a decisive final shot.
The top eight shooters from qualifying advanced to the title contest, and the lineup included all three Zhejiang shooters: Olympic champion Huang Yuting, 2023 world champion Han, and world record holder Wang Zifei.
Huang was the first to exit, and Wang's two scores of 9.9 points proved to be costly as she finished fifth. Han, the last remaining Zhejiang shooter, overtook Liaoning's 15-year-old Du Yuchen to reach the final duel. Trailing Jiangsu's Yan by 0.1 points heading into the last shot, she was able to keep her composure and score 10.6 points to beat Yan's 9.8 and secure the title with a total of 252.7 points.
In the men's 25-meter rapid fire pistol final, Jiangxi's Wang Shiwen had a second technical malfunction that cost him dearly and he went on to take bronze with a total of 27 hits. Fujian's Su Lianbofan and Shaanxi's He Shiyu reached the final duel and both finished with 35 hits. The gold medal match went to a shoot-off.
